Qasr al Hosn is a building of incredible historical significance. Not only does it stand as the oldest building in Abu Dhabi, but it was also once the seat of government, home to the Abu Dhabi Royal Family, and in 1761 served as a watchtower to protect the only freshwater well on Abu Dhabi Island.
Within the walls of Qasr al Hosn, there’s a depth of history unmatched by any other monument in the country. With a history stretching back over 250 years, there’s a rich variety of stories to be discovered owing to its multiple purposes since construction in the 18th century.
During a tour of Qasr al Hosn, you’ll have the chance to walk in the footsteps of many generations before you, standing in the same spots as watchtower wardens, Royal Family members and government officials.
